"UP" Fund - Fundraising Events

Fundraising Events & Celebrations

March 2011 - Chamber After Hours - Corner House Inn

October 2009 - Moulton Fall Festival

October 2007 - Raffle

We held our major fundraiser, a raffle for $10,000, on Sunday, October 14th at the Moulton Farm Family Fall Festival. Oh what fun we had. This was our last chance to sell tickets and members were out in force, selling, helping out by bagging farm products and baked goods or doing whatever needed to be done at the time.

John Moulton once again set up a stand for us to sell chances and for the fifth year in a row he donated ALL the receipts from ALL baked goods sold that day. How great is that!! John is a real supporter of the fund and has been since it was started and we sure do appreciate everything he does. As Annie would say “We love you John.”

The day was pretty nippy but hundreds came out to have some fun and most came dressed for the occasion. There were so many things to do that if you had not planned to spend at least a couple of hours you missed something.

For example: they offered a Kids Tractor Pull, a live Band, tractor rides, corn maze, bungee jumping, rock climbing, carve or paint your own pumpkin contest and even pumpkin bowling and so much more.

Freddi Gale and Rhoda Goodman have some fun selling tickets.

Carve or paint your own pumkins were a couple activities offered.

The “UP” Fund drawing was to be held at 2:00pm and about five minutes before, the crowd started to gather around our stand and you could just tell that everyone wanted to be “the winner” and the excitement was exhilarating.

President Freddi Gale and Annie watch as Emily Ledger draws the winning tickets.
Thank you Emily! You did a GREAT job!

Raffle Winners were:

$10,000 - Dr. George T. Felt, Meredith, NH
$1,000 - Mr. Garry Sherry, North Conway, NH
$500 - Mr. & Mrs. Frank Bednarck, Holden, Mass

It’s always special fun when someone local wins.

Our congratulations go out to all the winners.

Treasurer Joe Keegan, Secretary Patricia Keegan stand with the lucky winner Dr. George Felt as Annie presents the $10,000 check.

THE FUND WISHES TO THANK EVERYONE FOR ALL THE DONATIONS WE HAVE RECEIVED OVER THE YEARS. WITHOUT THE CONTINUED SUPPORT YOU HAVE GIVEN TO US WE WOULDN”T BE WHERE WE ARE TODAY.

Annie's 40th Birthday Celebration

On March 10th “the only place to be” was Church Landing at Mill Falls in Meredith. Two hundred and fifty of “Annie’s closest friends” came out to celebrate Annie’s 40th Birthday and the “UP” Fund’s 10th year in existence.

There was so much excitement in the air as people arrived and sure enough, Annie was there to greet, hug and kiss each one of them. The outer room was lined on both sides with many silent auction items and lots of pictures of Annie at different phases of her life. People seemed to linger out there enjoying the atmosphere along with the Hors d’oeuvres that were being passed around.

As people entered the hall for dinner, they were pleasantly surprised to find an ongoing slide show of Annie’s life in pictures created by her brother-in-law, Jim MacMillan at one end of the hall and a huge chocolate birthday cake made and donated by Donna Love of Love Bites Pastry Shop in Moultonborough at the other end.

D.J. Pat Kelly of WEMJ, AM 1490 radio did a fantastic job as Master of Ceremonies. He had his job cut out for him because he had to keep things moving along and with 13 speakers that is not an easy chore, but somehow he did it with no problem whatsoever.

Thank you Pat Kelly!!

2006 Fundraising Event News & Background Information

October 2006 - Raffle

This year John Moulton decided to have a Fall Festival and offered to let us hold the “Third Annual” $10,000 drawing at the farm during the Festival in addition to donating all the proceeds from baked goods sold that weekend to the “UP” Fund.

We changed the price to $20 per ticket, sent out our mailing in June, and added an incentive of an early bird drawing of $1,000 to be drawn in July.
On July 29th at the Boat Show in Meredith, Ann Sprague, Executive Director of the Lake Winnipesaukee Historical Society drew the lucky winner of the $1,000 early bird special.

Congratulations go out to Pat and Joe Keegan of Moultonborough.

Throughout the summer, members could be seen selling tickets all around the lakes region. Our thanks go out to all the businesses who continue to support the Fund.

On the day of the Festival, excitement was in the air. Hundreds of people came to the farm to enjoy all the activities. There was so much to do from decorating your own cookies, carving pumpkins, to tractor rides etc... Most people stopped by our booth to take a chance on winning the $10,000. That weekend alone, we received over $3,500 in ticket sales and donations. Plus, John Moulton donated $1,400 from baked good sales so all in all it was a great weekend for the “UP” Fund.

Thank you Fratello’s!!

2004 Fundraising Event News & Background Information

April/May

Background Information: Three years ago John Moulton of Moulton Farm in Meredith expanded his farm to include a bakery. The week before he officially opened for business, John generously offered to hold a “Bake Off” and he donated the TOTAL proceeds to the Fund. Annie was there to greet everyone as they arrived and with her were Gary Bell and Jerry Moses, former Red Sox players.

The “UP” Fund committee members manned the cash registers and a total of $1,858 was raised.

The committee members couldn’t have done too much damage with the cash register mistakes because John invited us back again last year for a “Second Annual Bake Sale” on the weekend before he officially opened.

Once again all the sales of “Baked Goods” went to the Fund and $1,892 was raised.

On April 30th and May 1st of this year we held our “Third Annual Bake Sale” at the farm. This year it was held on opening weekend and again the “UP” Fund committee members manned the registers in 3 hour shifts. (Of course we got a lot of help from the regular farm workers.)
Saturday was extremely busy because not only was John donating all the proceeds from “Baked Goods” to the Fund, he also was letting the Belknap County Conservation Trust use his farm for their annual plant sale.

Annie was there to hug and kiss people as they arrived and a cup coffee was free for the taking. Everyone had a great time and we raised $1,953 for the Fund.

Thank you John Moulton!!

If you are in the area, please make sure you stop by the farm. You will not be disappointed because everything they have for sale is first quality. Tell them Annie sent you!

July/August

Blue “UP” Arrows – Background Information: The “UP” Arrows or Blue Arrows campaign was introduced in 2001. It was the brainchild of committee member Diane Traibman and because it was such a big success, it has become a yearly Fundraiser for July-August.

Organizations around the area sell the Blue Arrows the week(s) of their choice during the summer months in the hopes of attracting some of our summer visitors to help the Fund.

Jackson’s Star Market in Meredith has been the largest seller of the Blue Arrows each year. If you are in the area during July or August look around for the Blue Arrows and make a donation to the Fund and please don’t forget to support the merchants selling the arrows.

Dan Feehily of Jackson's Star presents check to Annie.

August/September

Major Fundraiser Background: Over the years the Fund has had many fundraisers ranging from auctions, silent auctions, sailing on the Mount Washington, dining around town to “A Night at the Races”. To date $225,000 has been raised and most of it was done locally. We are very thankful to all our supporters. It is because of them that we have been able to give out so many awards. (Check out our Financial Award Page)

Last year the committee introduced a new raffle fundraiser. The idea is to “sell” 300 tickets for a donation of $100 each with the winner receiving $10,000. This is to become an Annual event. Don’t miss out. You can’t beat the odds!!

MacGregor Gay, a 5 yr. old boy with Down Syndrome who is receiving therapeutic riding lessons provided by the Fund was on hand to draw the winning ticket(s) at the Corner House Inn in Sandwich on October 7, 2004. MacGregor received assistance from “UP” Fund President Don Brown.

And the lucky winner(s) were
:

$10,000

Chris Read
1,000 Heidi Nason
500 Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Yorks
100 Mr. & Mrs. Greg Berry

Congratulations!!
And thank you for supporting the “UP” Fund
